How to write a story based on theme?

lol wow that's a vast topic... Uhm you could take it to a fantasy harrypotter/magical fictional story approach or you could write a story on energy sources like light.. That may be more like an article though...uhm personal anectode like with the power of light in lighnting...how you think Thomas Edison? Really came about to invent the light bulb! hope these help :)
